Distilleries
Known as Scotland's whisky island, Islay has eight distilleries spanning the length and breadth of the island. All have visitors centres which are well worth visiting in order to sample the a “wee dram” of the famous Islay single malt whiskies all with their own unforgetable distinct character.
Just short walk from Mo Dachaidh along to the church, down Main Street you will find Bowmore Distillery. This is arguably one of the oldest in Scotland, and is the first recorded distillery on the Isle of Islay dating back to 1779 and still going strong.
